After having been away for several days, I came back and have discovered that I can’t post a comment unless I am signed in. Is this true for anyone else? Perhaps it is something with my particular combination of operating system and browser? (I tried both Firefox and Safari – neither work.) Am I being singled out? What’s up?
Weird, I have the same problem with my online banking web page. For some reason it makes me sign in before it lets me transfer funds. Just another way of inconveniencing the customer if you ask me.

Me too. Having the same problem with my Amazon account.
Sarcasm aside, the news stories allow anonymous commenting, while the forums require an account. It’s always been that way.
I’m guessing I must be the only one since none of you recognized what I was talking about.
M. Griffon – I am fully aware of how it has always been. I was referring to adding comments to a story, not a forum post. I can’t seem to add comments to a story unless I am signed in and even then, they all automatically say that the comment is pending review. (Please don’t waste any time explaining what the common triggers of comment review are, I’m well aware.)
I’d love to know what triggers comment reviews. I have been batting about .250 over the past few months. My comments don’t use offensive language, nor contain personal attacks (although they may be snarky at times). Once, after several failed tries, I typed in “I love kittens” and still got “your comment is awaiting moderation” and, like every other “moderated post” I have made, it never showed up.
I wasn’t aware there were triggers. I just assumed I was being punished for some unknown transgression.
