WJLA reports the Ray’s the Steaks at Benning and Minnesota Avenues in NE may be done for. Is the brand losing steam or was this just a bad fit?
Horrible location for a Ray’s. A person interviewed for the article said she wanted a “brand name” restaurant — meaning a chain.
Ray’s only works on this side of the potomac. for many a reason NE is not a good location.
Didn’t even know there was a Ray’s over there. Terrible location. If they wanted a neighborhood-y DC location they should have opened in Eastern Market.
I don’t understand all of the hoopla around Ray’s. I’ve been to his first store and enjoyed my meal. His second incarnation of the first store was a downer and not very good. Everything drowning in butter and bad service.
Come to my house. I’ll grill you a perfectly cooked steak with a large slab of butter on it and give you a few drinks for $100. Bring a date and I’ll give her half off.Experimental location, he was trying to be a visionary, didn’t work. No indications of a loss of brand equity. I have been past all Ray’s restaurants in Arlington in the last week or two and they are as slammed as usual.
Terrible location, terrible service. I know a couple of people who worked there and the management just doesn’t seem to be able to keep staff. Death knell.
A “brand name” restaurant? She can have her TGI Friday’s.
what is the big deal with Ray’s? like seriously every time I have gone to Ray’s they treat me like crap.
