I find the removal of the Crime Map to be quite curious… QUITE CURIOUS, INDEED…
Is this because crimes have been multiplying in number and severity… perhaps due to the policies of the county board and the ACPD focus on revenue enforcement vs. community policing and crime prevention?
Does anyone know of an independent source to track crime trends in a certain zipcode or area? Besides SpotCrime?
I know every police department in America will tell you they’re doing a great job and crime is down, but in the Crime Beat I seem to have noticed a trend toward… ummm… multiple murders, pollo shack slashings/stabbings, and violent sex crimes lately. Is there a line chart somewhere out there?
I hate to fuel your paranoia but the crime report released by the county police does not include all crimes reported but rather a selective sampling of reported crimes. Given the lack of transparency of the Arlington police, I think it is fair to assume you would be shocked at both the frequency and the types of crimes committed in and around the county. The report is in it’s self pretty useless because it does not really allow citizens to either monitor all of the crimes committed in their neighborhood or get a clear picture as to the performance of the police in maintaining safety in the different communities with in the counties. As to the increase in "multiple murders, pollo shack slashings/stabbings, and violent sex crimes” you really cant tell if this is a result of the county reporting more of the reported crimes or if their is a real increase in these types of crimes. Currently the police seem to be managed to make arrests but a truly effect force has decreasing reported crimes over time which is the mark of a safe community and a successful police force.
do you think the crime map will return once all the kinks are out of the new design?
This site used to have a crime map? Not at all kidding. On here for 2 years, never knew it.
It was actually just a link to the SpotCrime map, but it was useful.
I never noticed it either, CW.
+1 by the way
