Veterans Day 2013 in Clarendon
  • johnlyonpost3150 November 6, 2013 - 10:11 pm #93342 Reply

    Hello,

American Legion Post 139, supported by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3150, will mark this year’s Veterans Day at the Clarendon War Memorial in Arlington on Monday, November 11 beginning at 1 PM.  We’d really like to encourage you all to attend this year’s unveiling of a temporary memorial plaque dedicated to the memory of those service members with close ties to Arlington lost in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.  This temporary plaque symbolizes the commitment of Arlington’s veterans to raise the funds required to place a permanent marker similar to those from prior conflicts that are displayed on the memorial.

The fallen service members to be honored are:

    Chief Joel Baldwin, U.S. Navy

    CPT Michael Cassidy, U.S. Army

    L/CPL Niall Coti-Sears, U.S. Marine Corps

    SPC Adam Kuligowski, U.S. Army

    2LT Sean O’Connor, U.S. Army

    LTC James Walton, U.S. Army

The Clarendon War Memorial is located at the Clarendon Metro Station in Arlington at the crossroads of Washington, Wilson, and Clarendon Boulevards.

    Thank you.

I’m frankly appalled that there is no mention of this being Veteran’s Day by this forum.

Was there something stopping you from posting about it?

The turnout was great this year and the American Legion Post 139 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3150 of Arlington are grateful for your support.  Picture and story can be found here: http://arlington-va.patch.com/groups/around-town/p/for-six-arlington-veterans-the-final-roll-call

I’ve been banned from the disqus comments four or five times already. Takes about three minutes to get back to posting.

It was Swag, then squidgod, then squidgod_the_unbannable, then squidgod_the_unbannable_2.0

maybe its the unbannable part.  I imagine “ban” raises a red flag on the comments section.  As does plenty of other words.

You mean like cheese and vibrant?

Oh yeah….We never see much from the cheese monger anymore. I guess she got tired of everyone asking how to properly cut the cheese….

    You mean like this?

See… you addressed that question quite nicely. I don’t know why she never answered it. She’s the expert after all…..

Eventually the comments section was closed on her column.  I think she stopped writing the column in late August and a story on ARLnow indicated she was taking some time off to give birth to her second child.
