Am seriously considering it. Have spoken to many, but not sure about the backlash against my lifestyle choices by the democrats. Will soon decide. Meeting some GOP and independent voters tomorrow.

Am I correct in thinking that the winner of this race has to stand for re-election less than a year later?  If so, I would think the field would narrow, since serious contenders must plan and maybe budget for back-to-back races.

    Whomever wins, I’m leaving.

barticus – yes, they will be up for re-election less than a year after the special election. I doubt this will narrow the field.

For the Democrat candidates, this is their shot at a caucus/primary/whatever without an incumbent.

The low turnout of a special election is a non-Democrat’s best shot at winning a seat and once you’re on the board you can actually do something and demonstrate why you’re a good board member.

As a streetcar supporter, I hope at least one candidate comes out strongly in favor of the streetcar.  I was very dissatisfied with candidate (now council member) Libby Garvey’s statements while running that she didn’t have enough information by which to take a stand.  Then after being elected she comes out against the streetcar based on all the material that was available to her before and while she was running.  I guess I was the fool…..

I wonder if she is truly against the streetcar or sees this as an issue by which to gain supporters on the board to unite with her for a different agenda?

This issue for me is are those running truthfully presenting themselves and their positions.

Am not decided yet. If I run, my platform will be to make Arlington the Vegan capital of America. It will be the first city that makes selling of cigarettes/cigars illegal. No restaurant can be open for business unless it has an organic, gluten-free, non-gmo, vegan options. Soda cannot be bought in ARL. I will be Bloomberg Plus or Bloomberg’s Bloomberg. Some of my supporters are totally gung-ho but a few people I spoke with were not happy. They were all democrats. I will make sure Wmata does not use metro on weekend to affect ARL economy. Street car is gone. Etc. Are you ready for me?

Forgot to add. I will support grants for yoga instructors to offer free classes.

@AKB will you introduce ArlCo Police to enforce stop and frisk as well? Like on neighborhoods such as Columbia Pike, Nauck, Halls Hill? Also will this organic, gluten-free, non-GMO, no MSG thing include food trucks?

I noticed pretend AKB hasn’t thrown his pretend hat in his pretend political party’s ring.
