Walked by the old Kitty O'shea's this weekend and there's a sign up saying “Wilson Tavern coming soon”. Any info?
There's another topic on here about this about 3 weeks old. Not much info on the place.
I noticed that when I drove by the other day. I don't know why but something stuck me as more than a little shifty with the whole way Kitty O'Shea's got bounced out of their space and someone opens another bar in the spot. I don't know why, but it just does.
Haven't seen much about it on the Interwebs, but the buzz around Arlington is that it is opening soon. Not sure how as I walked by it a few days ago and didn't really seem ready, guess we will see.
A friend of mine and I walked by Saturday night and noticed they have placed something that looks like benches outside. It looks much better than the worn-down shanty-looking area that was there before. And nice new Copperplate-looking lettering has been added to the sign.
We gave the benches a test-sit and got thumbs up from a lady inside. It looks like it could open any minute now.

Right after I posted my comment I talked to a friend of mine, the new word on the street is they are trying for an opening tomorrow night? Whoa!
Let me take a wild guess that they won't even allow smoking outdoors there. catering to arlisnobs. No wonder they wanted to get rid of Kitties. The outdoors area was just smokers.
the outdoor area at kitty's wasn't all smokers. and arlington county had absolutely nothing to do with why kitty's was evicted.
anyhow, i actually hope they do allow smoking outdoors, because that space is the kind of bar where smoking ought to be permitted. also, it isn't opening tonight. they still haven't taken the glassware out of the boxes (or so it appears through the window).
Noticed yesterday that the logo on the door looks very similar to the Lyon Hall logo. Copycatting, coincidence, or related? Not sure.
Isn't Lyon Hall just a generic typeface anyways? Well, at least the neon sign up top seems that way.
Another local bartender told me that this place is owned/operated by the landlord's son (Schupp?), which would explain why that was the name on the application for the liquor license. I don't think they own Lyon Hall, but who knows.
I hear that Wilson Tavern will be opening Wednesday the 7th, for all of those interested.

I am SURE it will not resemble the orginial Wilson Tavern! 
Now, THAT was a TAVERN!
It's open. Basically Kitty's with black paint, no ceiling, and contemporary/urban lighting (oh, and the tall tables are gone). Beers are $4-7. Fancy cocktails are $8-10. Servers actually pretend like they want you to be there. I enjoyed myself and will be going back.
Can you bring drinks outside? It's not fenced off/gated like Kitties was.
