An Arlington County hazardous materials team has responded to an office tower at 1001 N. 19th Street in Rosslyn. Initial reports suggest that an employee on the 12th floor opened a letter from a former employee and white powder fell out.
Arlington Makes AP’s “Least Stressed” List — Arlington has placed 12th on the Associated Press’ list of the 20 least economically stressed counties in the U.S.
County Gov’t Getting Paid By Feds — Arlington County will be reimbursed more than $300,000 for expenses associated with President Obama’s inauguration, the Sun Gazette reports. The county government is now turning its attention to securing about $800,000 in reimbursements from FEMA for December’s “Snowpocalypse” snow storm.
Del. David Englin (D) is firing back at someone who sent him a not-so-nice email last night. He forwarded the letter to supporters and asked for contributions to “send this person a message.”

Pete’s New Haven Apizza, currently of Columbia Heights in the District, will lease a storefront in the new Clarendon Center development. Co-owner Joel Mehr confirms that Pete’s is hoping to open the Arlington restaurant — its third in the D.C. area — at some point this winter.
Washingtonian said the slices at Pete’s are “not only the best in town; they’re worthy of comparison with the best in the country.” Pete’s even got a glowing endorsement from President Obama last fall… seriously.
The reception is open to the public. It’s taking place between 7:00 and 9:00 p.m.

Fire Works Pizza is moving into a large 5,500 square foot space at 2350 Clarendon Boulevard, within walking distance of American Flatbread’s Clarendon store, which opened just a couple of months ago.
Fire Works is setting up shop in Courthouse after the concept proved to be “wildly successful” in Leesburg, Va. But the Leesburg location won’t hold a candle to the Courthouse iteration. The new Fire Works is promising more of everything — more seating, more beers and more pizza.
