Crime Report: Bribery Edition

A property owner was arrested last week and charged with bribery, after allegedly trying to pay off a county inspector who had discovered code violations. Ibrahim Abdullah, a Cherrydale resident, was booked and held on a $5,000 bond.

BRIBERY-ARREST, 08/31/11, 3600 block of Fairfax Drive. On August 31 at 10 am, a person who owns several properties in Arlington County with code violations attempted to bribe a county inspector. The inspector reported the incident to the police. Ibrahim Abdullah, 56, of Arlington, was charged with Bribery. He was held on a $5,000 bond.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING BY MOB-ARREST, 09/02/11, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. On September 2 at 2 am, a man was leaving a bar when a group of men assaulted him. Three suspects were apprehended by police. Leonidas Venture, 20, of Falls Church, VA, Juan Vanegas, 21, of Arlington, and Edward Martinez, 23, of Manassas, VA, were all changed with Malicious Wounding by Mob. They were held without bond.

LATE ROBBERY, 08/31/11, 4300 block of Columbia Pike. On August 28 at 4 pm, a woman was sitting at a bus stop. An unknown man pressed a hard object into her back and demanded her necklace. He reached over and unclasped it before running off. The suspect is described as a 45 year-old white Hispanic male, 6’2″, and 260 lbs. He was wearing dark clothing.

ATTEMPT ROBBERY, 09/02/11, 2700 block of Shirlington Road. On September 2 at 8:40 pm, a man argued with a laborer that he hired for the day regarding payment for a job. The laborer displayed razor blade and threatened the man, but the victim fled without injury. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his late 20’s, 6′ and 170 lbs. His hair was shaved on the sides and he was wearing a light blue and gray checked shirt and jeans.

SEXUAL BATTERY, 09/06/11, 5000 block of Columbia Pike. On September 5 at 10:50 pm, a female employee unlocked a restroom for a fast food restaurant customer, and he grabbed her buttocks. The suspect is described as a Middle-Eastern male in his mid 40’s, 5’11” and 175 lbs. He had a shaved head and drove a gray or silver taxi from the scene.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY-ARREST, 09/02/11, 700 block of N. Glebe Road. On August 30 at 6:40 pm, a woman assaulted another female employee at a department store. Tracey Walker, 48, of Arlington, was charged with Assault and Battery and released on a summons to appear in court.

ASSAULT AND BATTERY, 09/05/11, 2300 block of N. 11th Street. On September 5 at 7 pm, a man assaulted his uncle and his uncle’s girlfriend during a disagreement.

BURGLARY, 09/01/005/49, 200 block of S. 20th Street. On August 31 at 11:50 pm, two men were seen breaking into a maintenance office in an apartment building. There is no suspect description.

BURGLARY, 09/02/11, 1200 block of S. Clark Street. Between 5:30 pm on September 1, and 7:30 am on September 2, an unknown person broke into an office suite. There is no suspect description.

UNLAWFUL ENTRY-ARREST, 09/03/11, 4200 block of N. 2nd Road. On September 3 at 4 am, an intoxicated man climbed into the window of an apartment that was not his. Jose Arroldo Elias, 23, of Arlington, was charged with Unlawful Entry. He was held on a $2,000 bond.
