BREAKING NEWS — Pedestrian Dead After I-395 Accident

(Updated at 7:20 p.m.) A pedestrian was struck and killed on northbound I-395 near Glebe Road this afternoon, according to Virginia State Police.

The fatal accident happened just after 4:00 p.m. Police say a man had crossed all southbound and HOV lanes of I-395, and was in the midst of crossing the northbound lanes when he was struck.

The victim, identified by police as 64-year-old Arlington resident Fekadu Ledi, was hit by a car in the far right lane. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

All lanes have reopened at the accident scene. The accident caused significant rush hour delays on I-395 and Glebe Road, as police shut down all but one northbound lane of I-395, as well as a heavily-traveled ramp from Glebe Road.

    1. Anyone on foot is a pedestrian. Could have run out of gas, etc. Let’s not speculate this time around and see what the facts come out to. Sad for everyone involved.

    1. Shoes were thrown off, out of respect more care should have been taken when covering the body…..what a shame….

  1. why didn’t they cover his legs/arms? He looked slighlty mangled. Just graphic. WHY did they half-ass covering this person up?

    1. What does it matter? You need to keep your eyes on the road and stop being so damn nosey!

    2. ArlNow, I’m pretty sure these descriptions of his body don’t need to be here.

What if his family and friends are reading? Let’s have some tact.

  2. Just heard on the news a male in his late 50s and had walked across the southbound, HOV lanes and was hit in the right lane of the right northbound lane. Not a smart move on his part.

  3. Being in a disabled vehicle situation is the scariest thing ever. I got minor rear-ended once on 95 in Stafford and being in the lefthand shoulder is terrifying. I had to get out, and I immediately jumped on the other side of the guardrail and stayed back as far from it as I could. Screeching tires several time just because some people slowed down to rubberneck, then others were on their phone or whatever and almost caused a pileup.

Another time I hit the wall on the 14th Street bridge because some dumbass didn’t yield entering from the parkway. People cursed and honked but no way was I getting out of the car until cops came and put their lights on behind me.

If it ever happens, stay in the car, seat back all the way, seatbelt on, and say your prayers.

  4. This morning I was crossing the TR by bike when this jogger in front of me stepped over the wall, sprinted across the westbound lanes, jumped over the median, and then froggered across the eastbound lanes. I damn near crashed from my jaw scrapping the ground.
