ARLnow.com is proud to announce that our readers have helped us to reach the mark of one million pageviews per month.

For the month ending Friday, May 4, ARLnow.com readers viewed a total of 1,000,721 pages on the site, excluding the new real estate section. That’s the first time the monthly pageview count has exceeded 1,000,000 since we launched in January 2010.

ARLnow.com thanks our loyal readers for helping to propel us to web traffic statistics not typically seen for a “hyperlocal” website focused exclusively on a single community. We look forward to continuing to serve you and our advertisers for years to come.

ARLnow.com is an independent, locally-owned news website serving more than 125,000 unique visitors per month.* Our original journalism and photojournalism is produced by Arlington residents, often with the help of emails and anonymous tips from the community.

* Directly-measured web traffic statistics provided by Google Analytics

It’s kind of funny when they call ARLnow “hyperlocal” though. Arlington County has a population of more than 200,000, which is a decent-sized city (if it were a city). I think of hyperlocal as a site that covers one small neighborhood in a city.

And not many locales of 200,000 people include such significant agencies, organizations and sites like the Pentagon, Arlington National Cemetery, DARPA and various regional private company HQs. As you know, there’s quite a lot going on in the County that affects the region, the country and the entire world.

  • congratulations! You work very hard and deserve the recognition. I began reading you right from the very beginning and read every day.

I’m a little surprised – it looks like you have been getting about 2000 page views per article when they are published, and you publish fewer than 10 articles a day, for an average of six days a week – which would yield half that amount. No matter, there isn’t anything that magical about a 2 million page views, other than being symbolic. Your best metric watching number of page views per month per unique visitor.
