Crime Report: Rosslyn Robbery Foiled By Lack of Cash

Two men tried to rob a fast food restaurant in Rosslyn last Thursday night.

According to police, the armed men demanded cash, but fled the scene after they were told that the restaurant had no money. From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

ATTEMPTED ROBBERY, 09/12/13, 1700 block of N. Lynn Street. At 10:46 pm on September 12, two subjects attempted to rob a fast food establishment at gunpoint after hours as employees were cleaning. The subjects fled the scene on foot when they were told there was no money. The suspects were described as black males, wearing all black clothing and masks.

ROBBERY, 09/15/13, 5400 block of N. Lee Highway. On September 15 at 8:44, two masked, armed suspects entered a business and took cash from the safe.  The suspects are described as two black males, 20s, wearing black clothing and wearing ski masks over their faces.

ROBBERY, 09/17/13, 5400 block S. Columbia Pike. On September 17 at 12:29 am, two suspects pushed a victim down on the street and stole a video game. Suspects are described as two black males, early 20s, one wearing a white shirt, light blue shorts, and a blue hat and the other wearing a black shirt and black jeans at the time of the incident.

BURGLARY, 09/11/13, unit block of S. Aberdeen Street. Between September 10 and September 11 at 7:22 am, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence. It was unknown at the time of thisreport whether any items were stolen. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 09/12/13, 1900 block of S. Columbia Pike. Between September 10 at 11:30 pm and September 12 at 12:01 am, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and took cash from a victim’s dresser. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 09/14/13, 2200 block of N. Clarendon Boulevard.  An unknown subject(s) entered an apartment and stole electronics.  There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 09/13/13, 3200 block of N. Albemarle Street.  An unknown suspect(s) entered an unlocked residence and stole jewelry.  There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 09/15/13, 6000 block of Wilson Boulevard.  The front door glass of a business was smashed by a subject who is seen on video approaching register but leaving abruptly without taking anything.  The suspect is described as a white male, wearing dark long sleeved shirt, light cargo pants and black baseball cap.

BURGLARY, 09/16/13, 6600 block of N. 19th Street. On September 16 between 10:45am and 5:45pm, an unknown suspect(s) entered a residence and stole a laptop. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 09/17/13, 4000 block of N. 9th St. At 7:31 pm on September 17, a victim reported multiple items missing from his apartment, including two laptops, two Playstation 3s, and passports. The apartment door had been left unlocked and there were no signs of forced entry. There are no suspects at this time.

SEXUAL ASSAULT, 09/14/13, 1200 block of S. 28th Street.  An unknown suspect grabbed a victim as she was getting into her car.  The suspect prevented her from closing the car door and attempted to grab her breasts.  The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 5’1, wearing white tank top style undershirt and light blue jeans.

INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT/DEATH INVESTIGATION, 09/17/13, 1100 block of S. Glebe Rd. At 3:13 pm on September 17 police responded to a construction related accident. The victim was walking across the top level of the building under construction when a piece of plywood gave way, and he fell two stories to the concrete floor below. When police arrived, fire department personnel were performing CPR on the victim. The victim was taken to the hospital and later died from his injuries. A further investigation is being conducted.

DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY (Series), 09/15/13, 4100 block of N. 4 Street.  Multiple vehicles were damaged overnight and reported in the morning of September 15. There is no suspect(s) description.

ATTEMPTED GRAND LARCENY (Bicycle), 09/15/13, 3600 block of S. Glebe Road.  A subject was seen at an apartment complex bike cage and was found in possession of burglarious tools. John Sears, 31 of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with fail to identify, burglarious tools and possession of drug paraphernalia and held without bond.
