Last Wednesday, an armed man robbed a woman at gunpoint in her room at the Sheraton hotel on Columbia Pike.
From this week’s crime report:
ROBBERY, 900 block of S. Orme Street. At 10:17 am on December 4, an unknown suspect allegedly robbed a female at gunpoint in her hotel room. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20’s with short hair. The suspect was wearing a black shirt, blue jeans, a gray sweater, and black and gold shoes at the time of the incident.

ROBBERY, 131205001, 1600 block of N. 21st Street. At 11:34 pm on December 4, a victim was allegedly robbed at gunpoint of his cell phone by two suspects outside of his apartment complex. The first suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, approximately 5’6″ with short black hair and a stocky build and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark colored pants. Suspect #2 is described as a black male in his early 20’s, approximately 5’8″ with short black hair and was wearing a dark gray hooded sweatshirt and dark pants at the time of the incident.
ROBBERY, 131208014, 500 block of S. 15th Street. On 12/08/2013, at approximately 1:15 am, two victims were robbed at knifepoint by two suspects. The first suspect was described as a black male, 18-21 years old, 5’11”, thin build, wearing a red jacket and black pants. The second suspect was described a black male, 18-21 years old, 5’9″, medium build, wearing a black or gray jacket and gray pants. The investigation is ongoing.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 131205038, 2300 block of N. Fairfax Drive. At approximately 5:20 pm on December 5, an unknown suspect grabbed a female victim from behind and groped her. The suspect fled the scene after the victim screamed. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his 20s and approximately 5’3′ tall. The suspect was wearing a dark jacket and a hat at the time of the incident.
BURGLARY, 131204013, 3400 block of N. Fairfax Drive. Between 6:15 pm on December 3 and 7:00 am on December 4, an unknown suspect(s) stole a laptop and various tools from a construction site. There is no suspect(s) description.
BURGLARY, 131206005, 2200 block of S. Crystal Drive. At approximately 12:15 am on December 6, two cleaning people heard a loud noise inside a restaurant and discovered a portion of ceiling in the manager’s office had collapsed and the safe was open. It was unknown if any of the money had been stolen at the time of the report. There is no suspect(s) description.
BURGLARY, 131208032, 1300 block of S. 28th Street. Between 9:00 pm on 12/07/2013 and 9:00 am on 12/08/2013, an unknown suspect(s) broke into the apartment through a window. Nothing appears to have been taken. The investigation is ongoing.
BURGLARY, 131208037, 900 block of S. Orme Street. Between 12:00 am and 6:30 am on 12/08/2013, an unknown suspect(s) broke into an Engineering Room and took tools. The investigation is ongoing.
FRAUD/UTTERING, 131206028/49, 1300 block of S. Crystal Drive. Between 7/15/13 and 12/5/13, a known suspect fraudulently stole money on numerous occasions from the victim. The investigation is ongoing.
ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 131210032, 4800 block of S. Columbia Pike. At 5:27pm on December 10, a victim reported being slashed on the hand by an acquaintance in the parking lot after an intoxicated altercation. Upon police arrival the suspect had fled the scene. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 28 years old, 5’10”, and weighing approximately 190 pounds. He has black hair and was wearing a black North Face jacket and dark pants at the time of the incident.
DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY(SERIES) 131207022-24, 030, 032-039, 041-055, 055-059, 061-062, 064-066. 1800 – 1900 block of N. Dinwiddie Street, 1800 block of N. Culpeper Street, 1700 block of N. Cameron Street, 4900 block of N. 17th and N. 18th Street, , 4700 and 5000 block of N. 19th Street, and the 5000 block of N. 20th Street. Between 12:30 am and 7:00 am on 12/07/2013, 40 vehicles had their tires punctured in the Halls Hill neighborhood by an unknown suspect(s). The investigation is ongoing.
MISSILE INTO OCCUPIED DWELLING, 131211002, 3400 block of S. Wakefield Street & 3400 block of S. Utah Street. An unknown subject(s) threw bricks through the living room windows of two victims causing around $600 in damage. The victims were unable to provide a description of the suspect(s). The investigation is ongoing.

The STEAM Workforce Development Teacher Fellowship provides Arlington Public Schools (APS) high school, middle school, and elementary school teachers with opportunities to learn about workplace needs in STEAM-related fields and for them to use the experience to enhance student learning to match workplace expectations in a selected industry. STEAM Fellows participate in a three-week summer fellowship, receiving a $4,000 stipend upon completion.
Applicants planning to pursue a fellowship in the arts must demonstrate how they will build connections between the arts and science, technology, engineering, or mathematics.
