Crime Report: Uber Driver Robbed

An Uber driver was robbed in Crystal City early Thursday morning.

Police say two men assaulted the driver and took his cash and belongings around 12:20 a.m. From an Arlington County crime report:

ROBBERY, 140626002, 500 block of S. 15th Street. At 12:20 am on June 26, two unknown suspects assaulted and robbed a Uber cab driver of cash and his belongings. Suspect one is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 6’0″ and 160 lbs. He was wearing a black baseball cap, dark jacket over a white t-shirt, jeans, and black and white shoes. Suspect two is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 6’0″ and 160 lbs. He was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.

HOME INVASION ROBBERY, 140621031, 700 block of S. 31^st Street. At 3:22 pm on June 21, two unknown suspects posed as power repair men and entered an elderly female victim’s home. The suspects held the female victim and forcibly entered locked areas to steal items. Suspect one is described as a white or Hispanic male in his twenties, approximately 5’6″ and 160 lbs. He was wearing an unknown color baseball cap, a blue Nike t-shirt, and an unknown color pants. Suspect two is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’1″ and 145 lbs. He was wearing a baseball cap, long sleeve shirt and pants.

ROBBERY BY FORCE, 140618024, 900 block of S. 23^rd Street. At 2:17 pm on June 18, a 67 year-old female victim was struck in the back of the head and robbed of her purse by an unknown suspect. The suspect then fled the scene. The suspect is described as a black male in his twenties, approximately 6’4″ and 175lbs. He was wearing a black t-shirt, dark pants, and had shoulder length dread locks.

ROBBERY, 140621037, 6000 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. At 6:30 pm on June 21, an unknown male suspect allegedly displayed a black handgun and robbed a mini golf stand. The suspect then fled the scene. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’8″ and 170-180 lbs. He was wearing a black mask, white sweater, and black pants.

ROBBERY, 140624009, 4900 block of S. Columbia Pike. At 1:00 am on June 24, a known male suspect robbed a 17 year old female victim of her gold bracelet. Russell Gaskin, 23, of Arlington VA was arrested and charged with robbery, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and assault and battery.

ATTEMPTED ARMED ROBBERY, 140621047, 4400 block of S. 31^st Street. At 9:30 pm on June 21, three male suspects attempted to rob a 33 year-old male victim at knifepoint. Cristobal Flores, 19, and Mario Juarez, 27, of Arlington VA were arrested and charged with attempted robbery. Andres Escobar, 17, of Ashburn VA, was charged with attempted robbery and underage possession of alcohol.

MALICIOUS WOUNDING, 140619010, 2300 block of N. 11^th Street. At 5:18 am on June 18, a subject assaulted a female victim and an elderly man during a dispute. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and remains at-large. Warrants were issued for Carlos Betancourt-Leyva, 42, of Arlington, VA for malicious wounding, assault and battery and petit larceny.

BURGLARY, 140618013, 5400 block of N. Carlin Springs Road. Between 9:20 pm on June 17 and 8:40 am on June 18, an unknown suspect(s) broke into a swimming pool area to damage and steal property. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 140619065, 2300 block of S. Jefferson Davis Highway. Between 7 am and noon on June 19, an unknown subject(s) entered a hotel room and stole prescription medicine from a guest. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 140622023, 1200 block of N. Courthouse Road. Between 12:00-6:00 am on June 19, an unknown suspect(s) pried open a laundry room door and stole change out of three change machines. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 140620050, 3200 block of N. 19^th Street. At 3:00 pm on June 20, a male suspect stole a bicycle out of a shed. Nathaniel Hawkins, 33, of Washington D.C., was arrested and charged with burglary, grand larceny with intent to sell, and grand larceny of a bicycle.

BURGLARY, 140623032, 1000 block of S. Quebec Street. Between 6:30 pm on June 20 and 6:45 pm on June 22, a known male suspect violated his protective order and burglarized a female victim’s residence, taking cash and her cellphone. Marino Gomez, 34, of Arlington VA, was arrested and charged with burglary and a violation of a protective order. He is being held without bond.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY, 140623027, 4000 block of N. 40^th Street. Between 11:30 am and 3:30 pm on June 23, an unknown suspect(s) forced entry into a residence. It is unknown if anything has been taken. The suspect is described as a black female in her twenties, wearing a pink shirt and black shorts.
