Sales and new listings took a big hit this past week as the 4th of July holiday weekend dominated the market.
Sellers and buyers clearly were having fun at the beach instead of transacting real estate business, which is the normal pattern. Only 43 new listings came on the market in Arlington in the last week, the lowest week since the winter doldrums. Also, only 46 properties went under contract during that time. Again there was a high ratio of homes that had been on the market over 100 days, so Days on Market increased to 46.
Here’s an interesting anomaly heard on the street this week: at least a half dozen ratified deals were voided because of “buyers’ remorse.” The buyers just got nervous or had second thoughts. Who knows why?
