Crime Report: Armed Robbery at Pike 7-Eleven

The 7-Eleven store at 3600 Columbia Pike was robbed at gunpoint in the early morning hours last Saturday.

The suspect, who was wearing a surgical mask, made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. From this week’s Arlington County crime report:

ARMED ROBBERY, 141004019, 3600 block of S. Columbia Pike. At 3:18 am on October 4, an unknown male subject brandished a firearm and robbed the cashier at 7-11. The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his thirties, approximately 5’6″ tall with an average build. He was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt, black pants and had a white surgical mask covering his face.

Last Friday, a teen stole beer from the Giant supermarket at Penrose Square. He allegedly assaulted a security guard who tried to stop him as he fled the scene.

ROBBERY BY FORCE, 141003057, 2500 block of S. 9th Street. At 7:30 pm on October 3, a male subject concealed beer in a backpack at a grocery store and assaulted a security guard when he was confronted. The suspect fled the scene on foot. He is described as a teenage Hispanic male and approximately 5’6″ tall. He was wearing a white shirt with gray stripes.

ARMED ROBBERY, 141003012, 2200 block of S. Kenmore Street. At 2:55 am on October 3, a 25 year old male victim was allegedly assaulted and robbed at gunpoint for cash. Suspect one is described as a Hispanic male in his twenties and approximately 5’10” tall. He was wearing a white t-shirt, white shorts and red and white Nike sneakers. Suspect two is described as a Hispanic male in his twenties and approximately 5’8″ tall. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants. Suspect three is a black male in his twenties and approximately 6’0″ tall. He was wearing a grey t-shirt, blue jeans and red and white sneakers.

ROBBERY, 141006050, 1100 block of S. Hayes Street. At 4:46 pm on October 6, a subject was captured on security cameras concealing merchandise from a Hollister store in the mall. When confronted, the subject implied he had a knife and attempted to flee on foot. The subject was taken into custody by police and found in possession of numerous stolen pairs of skinny jeans. James Blackmon, 33, of Washington, DC, was arrested and charged with robbery, petit larceny and possession of burglarious tools. He was held without bond.

ATTEMPTED ABDUCTION, 141005008, 4000 block of N. 11th Street. At 11:35 pm on October 4, a 31 year-old female victim was driving in the Ballston area when a vehicle pulled behind her and activated a dash mounted rotating red light. When the victim pulled over, a subject approached her, displayed a badge and demanded she get into his vehicle. When she asked for a uniform officer to respond to the scene the subject fled. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 6’0″ tall and 200 lbs. He was wearing a faded black winter coat and blue jeans.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS SHOOTING, 141005046, 1900 block of N. Culpeper Street. At 9:35 pm on October 5, a subject attempted to kick in the front door of his ex-girlfriend’s apartment. When he was unsuccessful at gaining entry he went to the rear of the residence and fired four shots with a firearm at the house. At the time of the shooting there were two young children inside the residence. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle and remains at-large. Warrants for four counts of attempted malicious shooting, shooting into an occupied dwelling, attempted burglary with the intent to commit murder, use of a firearm in commission of a felony and misdemeanor assault were issued for Jeffrey Gaskins, 23, of Washington, DC.

BURGLARY, 141004009, 3200 block of N. Arlington Boulevard. Between 6:30 am on October 3 and midnight on October 4, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole several items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.

BURGLARY, 141006013, 1800 block of N. Columbus Street. Between 6 pm on October 2 and 8 am on October 3, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole radiators. There is no suspect(s) description.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 141004026, 2700 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. Between midnight and 1:30 am on September 28, a known subject is captured on surveillance video entering a store and stealing a valuable bicycle. The investigation is ongoing.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 141007018, 2200 block of N. Wilson Boulevard. Between 5:45 pm on October 6 and 8:20 am on October 7, an unknown subject(s) entered an office suite and stole several laptops. There is no suspect(s) description.

INDECENT EXPOSURE, 141001030, 2700 block of S. Lang Street. At 6:50 pm on September 30, an unknown Hispanic male was seen exposing himself at the water fountain of Gunston Middle School. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his thirties, approximately 5’3″ tall and 140 lbs. He was wearing a bright red shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident.
