The suspect also tried to steal the woman’s purse, according to police.
From this week’s Arlington County Police Department crime report:
ATTEMPTED ROBBERY/ SEXUAL BATTERY, 161028033, 1200 block of S. Thomas Street. At approximately 8:11 p.m. on October 28, officers responded to the report of an attempted robbery. Upon investigation, it was determined a female victim was attempting to enter a building when an unknown male subject obstructed her entrance. The male subject grabbed her arm and pulled the victim down a flight of stairs where he touched her inappropriately. The subject then attempted to steal the victim’s purse, but fled the scene when the victim cried out for help. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male in his thirties, approximately 5’5″ tall and 150 lbs. He was wearing a black jacket, dark pants, and had a black winter hat on.
Two other crimes of a sexual nature were included in the crime report. Both occurred last Wednesday, in the Aurora Highlands and Courthouse areas respectively.
SEXUAL BATTERY, 161025028, 2700 block of S. Fern Street. At approximately 3:15 p.m. on October 26, officers responded to the report of a sexual battery that had just occurred. Upon investigation, it was determined that an unknown male subject approached a female victim from behind and pushed his genitals against her buttocks region. Saul Diaz Hernandez, 50, of Arlington Va, was arrested and charged with sexual battery. He is being held on an unsecured bond.
EXPOSURE, 161026041, 1900 block of N. 15th Street. At approximately 7:38 p.m. on October 26, officers responded to the report of an exposure. Upon investigation, it was determined that a male subject exposed his genitals to a female victim. The suspect is described as a white male in his late twenties, approximately 5’7″ tall and weighed 155 lbs. He was wearing a grey hoodie and a dark jacket

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY, 161101010, 2500 block of N. Franklin Road. Between 7:25 a.m. on October 31 and 6:45 a.m. on November 1, an unknown subject(s) forced entry into a business through a window and stole an undisclosed amount of cash. There is no suspect(s) description.
BREAKING & ENTERING, 161030028, 2600 block of N. Roosevelt Street. At approximately 3:35 a.m. on October 30, officers responded to the report of a breaking and entering in progress. Upon investigation, it was determined a male subject attempted to gain entry into a residence and was unsuccessful. The male subject then gained entry into another vacant house in the neighborhood. Charles Mason Bussmann, 29, of Arlington Va, was arrested and charged with burglary at night and drunk in public. He is being held without bond.
ABDUCTION, 161030006, 4100 block of N. Fairfax Drive. At approximately 2:19 a.m. on October 30, officers responded to the report of an assault that had just occurred. Earlier in the evening a male subject was asked to leave a restaurant. Later in the evening as the restaurant was letting out a female victim recognized the male subject asleep on a bench and attempted to check on his welfare. The male subject became angered, pulled the victim to the ground, and dragged her by her hair. When witnesses intervened, the subject struck two additional female victims. Sean Patrick Mulcahy, 32, of Arlington Va, was arrested and charged with abduction and assault & battery.
ROBBERY BY FORCE, 161029049, 3000 block of S. Columbia Pike. At approximately 10:49 p.m. on October 29, officers responded to the report of a robbery by force. Upon investigation, it was determined a male subject assaulted a male victim and stole the tires from his bike. Officers located a subject matching the description the victim provided. Kavon Earl Hoffman, 29, of Washington D.C. was arrested and charged with strong arm robbery.
RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLE, 161028023, 300 block of N. 1-395. At approximately 4:26 p.m. on October 28, officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with stolen license plates. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the vehicle was also stolen. James Staats, 51, of Alexandria Va, was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, driving while suspended, fictitious tags, and driving without insurance. He was held on a $5000.00 bond.
BURGLARY, 161029021, 2000 block of S. Eads Street. Between 7:45 p.m. on October 27 and 8:00 a.m. on October 29, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole numerous items of value. There is no suspect(s) description.
BREAKING & ENTERING, 161030065, 2500 block of S. Kemper Court. Between 10:01 p.m. on October 29 and 7:30 a.m. on October 30, an unknown subject(s) entered a residence and stole a bicycle. There is no suspect(s) description.
ATTEMPTED BREAKING & ENTERING(Series), 161027013, 1000 block of S. Edgewood Street. Between 1:00 a.m. on October 26 and 8:00 a.m. on October 27, an unknown subject(s) attempted to force entry into two businesses by breaking a rear window. Nothing appeared to be missing from either business. There is no suspect(s) description.
