Arlington Pet of the Week: Mandrake

This week’s Arlington Pet of the Week is Mandrake, an active dog who also loves to snuggle. Here is what Caren, Mandrake’s owner, has to say about him:

Mandrake is a 3-year-old goofy Coon mix who loves to run, jump, chase his tail, go on hikes, bark at nothing and then snuggle with his humans on their laps. He is an alum of Woof’s Training, but he doesn’t always put his degree to use…

Mandrake was born to a teen mom who was rescued from a kill shelter in North Carolina. His dad, alas, was never in the picture, so mom was fostered with her newborn 9 puppies here in North Arlington. When the puppies were ready, they were put up for adoption through the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. But not as fast as Mandrake fell into our arms!

Mandrake’s morning routine involves a morning hike with lots of treats to keep him focused, then coming home to unmake the bed and sleep until his next episode!
