For 18 years, Bowen McCauley Dance Company (BMDC) of Arlington has produced its annual spring performance at the iconic John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Every spring, the Company makes the trip across the Potomac River and serves as Arlington’s Ambassador.
Planning a two-night performance at the Kennedy Center is an expensive endeavor. In addition to our professional dancers, we support other local artists by hiring 6-8 musicians that provide the accompaniments to Lucy’s choreographed dance works. With the many costs associated with our Kennedy Center production, the Company cannot survive solely on ticket sales. Therefore, every spring we turn to local corporations, foundations and individuals that graciously sponsor our annual spring performance.
This year, we hope you will join us on March 27 or 28 (7:30 p.m.). The evening will include two world premieres. The first “Insistent Music” is a repeat collaboration between Lucy and Turkish Composer Erberk Eryilmaz. Our newly minted Music Director and pianist, Nikola Paskalov along with soprano Karin Paludan will provide the backdrop for Lucy’s second world premiere “Imago”.
Tickets ($40-50) are available through the Kennedy Center box office at (202) 467-4600. If you’d like join us Saturday after the performance, we will be celebrating Lucy’s birthday at the Terrace Gallery.
