A Musical Conversation
Medici Ensemble
Michael Lynn, flute & recorder Alan Choo, baroque violin Ruby Brallier, viola da gamba Mark Edwards, harpsichord
One of the greatest pleasures in performing or listening to baroque chamber music is to discern the dialogues embodied in the music. One musical line poses a question; another answers. A line introduces an idea; another follows the lead and develops the idea. Or all the lines join in animated discussion. Baroque composers excelled at creating a variety of conversations – profound, dolorous, witty, complicated, and more. So too, when the Medici Ensemble performs, the result is very much a conversation among the musicians and between the musicians and audience.
Join the conversation as the Medici Ensemble explores the virtuoso chamber repertoire of this period, including solo and chamber works from France, Germany, and Scotland.
