Looking for a social tennis opportunity in Arlington? Look no further the ACTA Practice Series is here!
What is the ACTA Practice Series?
The ACTA Practice Series is a weekly, social “drop-in” tennis offering for players who are looking to meet and play with others of similar skill levels. The “drop-in” model is more of a relaxed group tennis experience, with no pre-defined activities for each session — you are encouraged to network and make use of the time as you see fit! No partner or team needed in order to register.
What to expect:
By joining the ACTA Practice Series, you’ll have an on-site coordinator who will ensure that the courts are reserved for only the Practice Series players. The coordinator will also ensure that tennis balls are available for your use (yes, we will provide the balls!) across multiple courts for each session. Pending registration turnout, we are expecting between 3-5 courts will be reserved for each session.
Total # of sessions: 5 (one per week; 5/09/2019 through 6/06/2019)
Location: Quincy Park Tennis Courts
1021 N. Quincy Street, Arlington, Virginia 22201
We have two different levels: Novice level 2.5-3.0 (C-level) to Intermediate-Advanced 3.5-4.0 (BC level). The Novice level will be held Thursdays from 7-8:15 p.m. and the Intermediate-Advanced 8:30-9:45 p.m. In case of rain out, plan to play following Mondays until 6/10/2019. If make-up sessions are still owed after 6/10/2019, plan to play following Mondays and/or Thursdays (same time and location) until 5 sessions have been reached.
How much tennis experience do I need?
Novice level: This ACTA Practice Series is best suited for players who consider themselves a rookie (2.5-3.0 level). Some prior tennis playing experience is recommended. If you are already in the ACTA C League, this series is a perfect opportunity to meet and practice with other players within your league level.
Intermediate-Advanced level: This ACTA Practice Series is best suited for players who have experience playing competition. Players that can hold a rally consistently with pace would be best suited for this level.
Playing Format: It’s up to you! Feel free to rally back and forth, engage in friendly match-play (doubles or singles, depending on how many players show up) or participate in a live-ball game.
What NOT to expect:
Tennis instruction (1-on-1), keeping scores after friendly match-play, team captains, or coordinator-led activities.
Inclement weather policy: Coordinator will notify the participants by 5pm that day latest, if the session will be postponed. If postponed, make-up sessions will be held the following Monday or Thursday, same time and same location.
