Arlington’s E-CARE Recycling Event is next Saturday, April 15 (rain or shine). Residents can come to Thomas Jefferson Middle School, 125 S. Old Glebe Rd., between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to safely dispose of hazardous household materials (HHM), and recycle items including bikes, small metal items, shoes, select baby and medical supplies, clothing and much more. HHM are products found in the home that are flammable, corrosive, poisonous or potentially hazardous. They include items such as automotive fluid, car-care products, fluorescent light bulbs, corrosives, household cleaners and propane gas cylinders.
If you bring an old CFL lightbulb, the Arlington Initiative to Rethink Energy (AIRE) team will swap it with a brand new LED bulb (one per household, while supplies last). Save a trip to the collection site by combining items with your neighbors. Place all materials in the original container or label materials clearly, and please over-pack any leaking containers. For a full list of acceptable items, visit our website. Be sure to bring your ID to verify that you are an Arlington resident.
