Say goodbye to Rosslyn’s Spectrum Theatre and attend CinemaVista, a double-bill evening of film, featuring Sundance screenwriting lab alumna, Via Bia who will be screening her directorial debut, These Colors Don’t Run (10 min.), alongside the 40-minute documentary Why Arlington by two-time AFI Latin American Film Festival selection Tomás Guevera. A post-screening Q&A and light reception will follow.
In “These Colors Don’t Run,” Via Bia’s film tells the story of a tattoo’ d Latina’s first “ink,” with surprising involvement from a pack of Sharpie markers, a pristine communion dress, and one angry Mama. Tomás Guevera’s “Why Arlington?” looks at the County’s diverse Columbia Pike corridor and considers how a community’s response can determine whether that impact of an influx of immigrants will be positive or negative Presented by ArlingtonArts, both filmmakers received Spotlight Grants through the Arlington Commission for the Arts FY 17 Grants Program.
