H-B Woodlawn’s middle school students present Shakespeare’s King John, which explores John’s unrelenting quest for the English throne following the death of his brother. Standing in John’s way is his nephew, the rightful heir to the throne. John’s desire for power and the riches that come with it lead him down a path of destruction. Four hundred years later, these themes – power, narcissism, and greed – maintain their relevance. There is no better place than fictional drama to explore the temptations of pushing citizenship and leadership to the extreme. The production blends medieval and futuristic imagery that draws parallels between King John’s rise and fall and the modern day and beyond. Reserve your seat for Thursday, November 16th or Friday, November 17th at 7:30 pm. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors, $10 for adults, and can be purchased online at hbwoodlawn.tix.com.
