The Arlington Philharmonic will host “Magnificent Movie Music,” a three-part multimedia lecture series presented by concert pianist and film music fanatic and expert Rachel Franklin, on Thursdays, May 4, 11, and 18 from 7:00 – 8:30 pm, at the Rosslyn Spectrum Theatre in Arlington. Tickets are $25 per lecture or $60 for the series.
Using fascinating film clips, witty commentary, and stunning piano demonstrations, Dr. Rachel Franklin will delve into the hidden magic of some of the greatest film music ever composed and discuss the relationships between films and their scores. As she explains, “We frequently fall in love with a movie through its music. Film music can inspire and romance us. It can make emotional statements that a script simply cannot.”
Doors will open at 6:00 pm each evening for a Happy Hour where wine, beer, and snacks will be sold. The lectures are sponsored in part by the Crystal City Wine Shop and Deschutes Brewery and proceeds from this event will benefit the Arlington Philharmonic.
