National Capital Strollathon

Join for a fun afternoon at this year’s Stroll for Rett syndrome research. The Strollathon is the International Rett Syndrome Foundation’s signature fundraiser. The afternoon will consist of family-friendly activities that everyone can enjoy. In addition to the stroll, Charles “Choo” Smith, a former original Harlem Globetrotter will entertain with tricks and games for kids. Rett syndrome is a unique autism spectrum brain disorder that is first recognized in infancy and seen primarily in girls, but can be seen rarely in boys. In 2007, a landmark study showed the reversal of Rett syndrome suggesting many symptoms of Rett syndrome and related disorders are reversible, event at later stages. Recently, scientific breakthroughs have been able to reaffirm the potential for disease reversibility and viable therapy options in the lab.
