‘scapes by Steve Ember – Opening Reception

February 05, 2013

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

1550 Wilson Boulevard

Arlington, Virginia 22209

An exhibit of 26 Alpine (and other) landscapes, cityscapes, and nightscapes in color and classic black and white.

Steve Ember is a Washington-based photographer, writer, voice over artist, and international radio and television broadcaster.

His areas of photography, in addition to his signature Alpine landscapes, encompass European and American cityscapes, including night scenes, as well as railroad and aviation subjects, and aerial photography. His work has been honored with selection in numerous juried exhibits at galleries in the greater Washington area. Steve’s photographs appear regularly at the Art League Gallery in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.

Steve’s landscape work is done in both color and black and white, including infra-red, and he remains committed to using film, alongside of digital. Alpine locations strongly appeal to his aesthetic sense and he most enjoys capturing the craggy textures and often dramatic skies. He also is attracted to the character inherent in old buildings, including in European villages. In exhibiting his work, Steve derives special pleasure in sharing with others the fruits of those otherwise private moments of looking through the viewfinder.

‘scapes is Steve’s first exhibit at Piola. The show runs through March 29.
