The Pike President’s Group invites all Arlingtonians to a school board candidates’ debate next Wednesday night at Patrick Henry Elementary School. Adults and children are welcome.
James Lander, Maura McMahon, and Monique O’Grady are all vying for the Democratic Party endorsement (Republican Party has no candidates; and this is a nonpartisan School Board).
Caucus voting is May 9, 7-9 at Key; May 11, 7-9, at Drew; and May 13, 11am-7pm, at Washington-Lee, so this event is one of the few opportunities to hear the nuanced policy positions of all three candidates, together.
The School Board is facing major issues, such as capacity concerns, performance disparities, and the near-term, significant revision of decades-old admissions policies. Public engagement is crucial to elect School Board Members prepared and willing to resolve these issues.
