This compelling production won 2nd place at the district level of the VHSL One Act Play Conference Competition last month, so the Yorktown Theatre III and IV students will be competing again, at the regional level, on February 18th in Nokesville, VA. The Lottery is a one-act play by Brainerd Duffield that was adapted from the original short story by Shirley Jackson. It tells the dramatic story of a small town that holds a unique lottery every year in June to insure a plentiful harvest for the following year.
