Crime Report: Young Women Assaulting Cops Edition

In this week’s Arlington County Crime Report, we find two cases of young women assaulting police officers.

ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST 06/02/10, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. On June 2 at 8:30 pm, a woman was caught shoplifting at a mall. She then spit on a security guard and assaulted a police officer. Shanta Watson, 18, of Washington D.C., was charged with Assault on Law Enforcement, Assault and Battery, Identity Theft and Petit Larceny. She was held on a $7,500 bond.

ASSAULT ON POLICE-ARREST 06/05/10, 3100 block of Wilson Boulevard. On June 5 at 12:40 am, an officer was arresting a suspect when the suspect’s girlfriend assaulted the officer. The female assaulted a second officer as well. Stephanie Vogeley, 21, of Arlington, was charged with two counts of Assault on Law Enforcement and Drunk in Public. She was held on a $5,000 bond.

ROBBERY-ARREST 06/05/10, 1800 block of Key Boulevard. On June 5 at 12:10 am, four unknown men confronted a man walking home. One suspect brandished a weapon and demanded money, and the other suspects searched the victim. Police apprehended the juvenile suspects and charges are pending.

ROBBERY 06/07/10, 700 block of S. 23rd Street. On June 7 at 1 am, a man was walking while listening to headphones when two unknown men approached from behind him. The suspect assaulted the victim and stole his cell phone. The suspects were African American men, 6′ with a medium build. The first suspect was wearing a grey long-sleeve shirt, black jeans and a black hat. The second suspect was wearing all dark clothing.

ATTEMPTED MALICIOUS WOUNDING-ARREST 06/06/10, 1000 block of N. Quincy Street. On June 6 at 4 pm, two men were involved in an argument and one attempted to stab the other. Jorge Orozco, 40, of no fixed address, was charged with Attempted Malicious Wounding and Drunk in Public. He was held without bond.

EXPOSURE-ARREST 06/03/10, 1000 block of S. Hayes Street. On June 3 at 3 pm, a man was seen sitting on a bench outside the mall exposing himself. Prakash Singh, 60, of Washington D.C., was charged with Obscene Sexual Display, and then released on a summons.

EXPOSURE 06/04/10, 6600 block of Lee Highway. On June 4 at 6:30 pm, a woman observed a man expose himself on the side of a roadway. The suspect is described as a white Hispanic male in his late 20’s, 5’8″ and 140 lbs. He was wearing blue pants and a blue shirt.

PEEPING TOM 06/07/10, 1100 block of N. Randolph Street. On June 6 at 11:30 pm, an unknown man was seen looking into an apartment window. The suspect was a white Hispanic male in his mid 20’s, 5’8″ and 150 lbs. He was wearing a blue v-neck shirt and jeans.

BURGLARY 06/02/10, 5200 block of N. 2nd Street. On June 2 between 6:45 am and 6:50 pm, an unknown person entered a house and stole a television. There are no known suspects.

BURGLARY 06/03/10, 5900 block of N. 4th Street. On June 3 between 10:30 am and 11:20 am, an unknown person entered a house and stole various items. There are no known suspects.

BURGLARY 06/04/10, 1500 block of S. Fern Street. On June 4 at 1:00 pm, a woman left her apartment unlocked and returned to find an unknown male inside. The suspect left without speaking and the victim later discovered jewelry missing. The suspect is an African American male with a light complexion, 40 years of age, wearing a white shirt and dark pants.

BURGLARY-ARREST 06/07/10, 2700 block of S. Lang Street. On June 7 at 2 am, two juvenile males broke in to a school, vandalized property, and stole several items. Police apprehended the suspects. Charges are pending.

BURGLARY 06/07/10, 2200 block of N. Oak Street. On June 7 at 1 pm, a man was seen attempting to enter a residence. When an alarm sounded, the suspect fled. The suspect is described as an African American male in his early 20’s, 5’7″ and 140 lbs. He was wearing a white t-shirt, a red t-shirt, a white hat and jeans.

BURGLARY 06/08/10, 1000 block of N. Quincy Street. On June 8 between 11 am and 3 pm, an unknown subject entered and unlocked apartment and stole various electronics. There is no suspect description.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY 06/07/10, 900 block of N. Glebe Road. Between 2 pm on June 4 and 6 am on June 7, an unknown person entered a construction site and stole numerous tools. There are no known suspects.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY (SERIES) 06/07/10, 1000 block of Wilson Boulevard. Between 11 pm on June 4 and 8 am on June 7, an unknown subject entered at least three business suites in the same building and stole several various items. There is no suspect description.

GRAND LARCENY (SERIES) 06/07/10, 2900 block of S. Glebe Road. On June 7 between 6:30 pm and 7:30 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least three lockers in a gym locker room. Various items were stolen. There are no known suspects.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 06/05/10, 4100 block of N. 41ST Street. On June 5 between 4:45 pm and 6 pm, an unknown subject broke into at least two vehicles on the same street. There are no known suspects.

LARCENY FROM AUTO (SERIES) 06/05/10, 300 block of S. 23rd Street. On June 5 between midnight and 7 pm, an unknown person broke into at least three vehicles in the same parking garage and stole various items. There is no suspect description.
