Launched in January 2010, ARLnow.com is the place for the latest news, views and things to do around Arlington and Falls Church, Virginia. We seek to distinguish ourselves by providing original, enterprising, up-to-the-minute local coverage.
Our office is located in Ballston.
ARLnow’s mission is to connect and improve our local community — residents, workers, local businesses, nonprofits and government — via award-winning journalism and photography.
A pioneering local, independent online news and lifestyle publication, ARLnow’s coverage and business model have been discussed in university classrooms and at national conferences. We are a proud founding board member of Local Independent Online News Publishers.
In September 2024, ARLnow acquired the digital assets of the GazetteLeader newspaper.

Or connect with us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
We welcome all feedback and story suggestions, though there are some types of stories we typically do not cover, including:
- Local authors and books
- Graduations and academic honors
- Executive hires and promotions
- Industry awards and recognitions
- Smaller, niche events of limited relevance to the wider community
- Stories not related to Arlington or Falls Church
We do not accept unsolicited article submissions nor do we — as of June 2020 — publish op-eds and letters to the editor. We also typically do not attend events or cover non-breaking news on weekends.
Our news team does not have a phone line for inbound calls. ALL PRESS RELEASES, PR PITCHES AND OTHER INQUIRIES SHOULD BE SENT TO [email protected].
ARLnow requests that you only subscribe us to your media distribution list, not to promotional emails intended for consumers.
If you’re seeking coverage of an event, please consider adding it to our event calendar.
While Arlington may be the United States’ smallest self-governing county, and Falls Church is known as the Little City, we receive a lot of email and requests for coverage. As much as we would like to respond to every email, we simply don’t have the resources to do so. You might not hear back from us, but rest assured that your email has been read and we appreciate the information.
See information about advertising on our Advertise page. And check out our other owned-and-operated sites — ALXnow and FFXnow — and our partner sites, PoPville, MoCoShow, Potomac Local and RunWashington.
