Water Main Break Closes S. Courthouse Road

(Updated at 10:05 a.m.) Workers are on the scene of a water main break that has shut down part of S. Courthouse Road in the Penrose neighborhood.

Buses and cars are being re-routed away from the work, which has closed S. Courthouse Road between 6th and 8th Streets.

As of 10:00 a.m., the break itself was repaired, but workers are now filling the hole and repairing the street.

The road is expected to be closed for about two more hours, so drivers should plan on finding alternate routes until around noon.

Good thing those buses and cars aren’t on a fixed track that would prevent them from “being re-routed away from the work.”

And aren’t those fence posts in the background part of the same fence on which someone was impaled on or about July 4?

    Donaldson Run joke.

This is the Naval Support Facility on Courthouse Rd, not the Wellington on Columbia Pike…so no, it isn’t the same place where the guy was impaled.

Also, the streetcar isn’t planned to go through this area.

I think his point was that were a water main to break on CP, the streetcar wouldn’t be able to easily avoid the area. They’d probably have to split it into two lines while the work is being done.
