Police Seek Help Locating Sexual Assault Suspect

by Katie Pyzyk September 27, 2012 at 1:50 pm 6,413 91 Comments

(Updated at 3:25 p.m.) The Arlington County Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a man accused of sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl.

Toribio Antonio Rodriguez-Soriano is a 31-year-old Hispanic male, around 5’5″ tall and weighing around 160 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the ongoing investigation, police will not disclose exactly where or when Rodriguez-Soriano allegedly assaulted the girl. However, according to ACPD spokesman Dustin Sternbeck, the suspect knows the victim. Rodriguez-Soriano was last seen on the night of Sunday, Sept. 23.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Rodriguez-Soriano is asked to contact Detective Jim Stone of the ACPD Special Victims Unit at 703-228-4245 or at [email protected] To report information anonymously, contact the Arlington County Crime Solvers at 866-411-TIPS (8477).

Apparently he’s not on Facebook or Linkedin or all his info would be posted here already.

    • bman

maybe he’ll show up at busboys and poets

      • drax

This post is awarded one half FREDTERP.

  • Hollywood

I think castration should seriously be considered as a form of rehabilitation in cases like these.

    • Captain_Obvious

      +1, followed by deportation.

      • X

How do you know he’s illegal?

        • Captain_Obvious

          never said he was…

          • anti-racist

so how and where to deport him then? or are we making racist assumptions? again

          • Joe

            Ani-racist – i was replying to Captain_Obvious message.

          • ARLNOW Auxiliary Police Department

            +1

          • X

Anti-racist, amen to your comments. But “Captain Obvious” much rather deny his own written words. Shame, shame!

          • X

At least be a man, and admit that you said (especially taking into consideration that your comment is written above). The guy could be a U.S. citizen (I remind you that most of the South West of the U.S. has had Hispanics living there before the U.S. added that land, and then there’s Puerto Rico), or he could be a naturalized U.S. citizen, or he could have TPS (which gives him legal status), or he could be illegal. So many choices, right?

          • Captain_Obvious

Relax, I was speaking to the nature of the crime, not the suspect’s nationality. Glad to see everyone’s own internal racist mechanism went off. Who’s the racist now when that’s the first thing that comes to your mind ?

          • X

@Captain Obvious, oh yeah? is that why you said “Deport him”?? Not even you believe your own words.

          • Northeast Shiniquwa

            I know dat’s right.

          • Captain_Obvious

I’ve tried responding once and my comment is “in moderation”. Basically, I was speaking to the nature of the crime, not the suspect’s nationality. Furthermore, my original comment came after I read the first sentence and images are disabled on my cpu, so I had no clue what he looked like. Jeez, sensitive people here…

          • drax

Well, yeah, all you had was his name, Toribio Antonio Rodriguez-Soriano. Could be Irish.

          • Captain_Obvious

read my post from 3:26pm, I said I read the first sentence…guy’s name wasn’t in the first sentence. Why don’t you learn to read ?

          • Westover

You’re giving them way more time than they warrant.

          • SomeGuy

He could be. I agree with you! So let’s not conclude the person you’re responding to intended anything racially or ethnically insensitive, particularly since he said he didn’t (although the comment chronology is so messed up here that I can’t be certain to whom you’re responding).

I was just excited to note is that you and I found something on which to agree.

          • SomeGuy

            WTF? More reply/chronology issues.

          • CW

            The hell is going on?

          • DCBuff

Everyone here is not a lawyer, but they do play one on that TV show with the allegedly guy from Arlington.

          • DCBuff

So he should be deported to Ireland?

          • X

@drax, there are millions of U.S. Citizens with names like that. Heck, we even one dude whose name is Hussein (as President).

          • Birther

And he’s an illegal too! Deport him!

            (too easy)

          • drax

@X – I know that. I was talking about Capt. Obvious’s claim that he couldn’t possibly know the guy was Hispanic because he didnt see his picture. Bull.

          • Captain_Obvious

I didn’t see his picture originally, many times when I’m at work, images/ads don’t appear on webpages because we have outdated web browsers and IT restrictions. Why doesn’t anyone have complaints about the castration comments ? I mean, that is actual bodily harm. The fact that some of you people (“X”) are so quick to label someone else a racist based on how you interpret a comment, just exposes you as the actual racist.

          • How Many Nationalities Can I Insult In One Post

Go to be East Asian with that name ……I really don’t think that he is Irish..doesn’t look like he drinks enough

      • Joe

He could be a US citizen, maybe even a US born latino. you never know. dont jump to conclusions, at times show cases ignorance.

    • Jessie

      I 100% agree, Hollywood.

    • ARLNOW Auxiliary Police Department

What if the accused is convicted and castrated, by the laws of Hollywood (Hogan), but later exonerated?

      • SouthArlJD

        Damn straight.

      • speonjosh

        +1

      • Hollywood

Without a payout from a massive lawsuit of course. It’s no different really from someone who gets put in jail for 20 years only to be exonerated by DNA evidence. This would be something the jury needs to take into account. I honestly think it should be considered since these recidivism rate for this type of crime is very high, these people suffer from sort of sickness. I think my proposal might cure that sickness.

        • Hollywood

          with*

        • drax

Exonerated? But the police never make mistakes.

  • mjw703

It would be nice of the police at least gave us some general idea of where the crime occurred. I have a young child myself and would like to know if I need to be extra vigilant if we are out at the park or if he’s roaming around our neighborhood.

    • drax

There are always potential sex criminals roaming around absolutely anywhere. Always be as vigilant as you think necessary.

    • Unbeeweebable

According to another article, which indirectly quotes ACPD spokesman Dustin Sternbeck, the suspect and the victim’s family know each other.

    • dk (not DK)

As this poor child’s case illustrates, children are far, far, far more likely to be victimized by someone they know than by strangers roaming in the park or living in the neighborhood.

  • The Dope of South Arlington

Hispanics are what, 18-20% of Arlington’s population? Yet they seem to be about 90% of the sexual predators. What gives?

    • ARLNOW Auxiliary Police Department

      Your bad stats.

    • SouthArlJD

Ludicrous. You just notice the ones who happen to be Hispanic. There are plenty of white sexual predators. There’s one living on my own street, for that matter.

      • drax

The Dope is parody (of some real posters around here).

    • X

@The Dope of South Arlington, based on whose stats? yours? Accoring to the FBI, White middle-aged males represent 90% of the serial killers, yet I don’t assume that most white-males are serial killers.

      • The Dope of South Arlington

The great majority of the sexual crimes profiled on ArlNow are that demographic. What that has to do with serial killers is beyond me.

        • X

@The Dope of South Arlington, provide your statistics for your cooment. And as far as my comment regarding serial killers, I believe that it’s obvious why I made that comment. But since it’s not obvious to you, it was made to show you that it’s wrong to stereotype.

          • The Dope of South Arlington

No one is stereotyping. I’m not saying all or even most Latinos are criminals. I’m saying of the sex crimes featured on ArlNow, a percentage way out of proportion to their percentage of the population seems to be Hispanic.

          • X

You’re wrong, and I proved that with the below statistics from Arlington County. No doubt, you will respond with some other racist comment:

            http://www.homefacts.com/offenders/Virginia/Arlington-County-4.html

          • John K.

For me… looking at that link, I think it’s just best to avoid men. Apparently, we’re offendey.

          • drax

            Time for a man roundup!

(Okay, maybe some other posters should have posted that one).

        • X

@The Dope of South of Arlington,

Out of 76 registered sexual predators, I counted 11 Hispanic males (in the below offical govt webpage). For your blantant racist statemente to be correct, you would need 39 Hispanics males on the list. Enough said:

          http://www.homefacts.com/offenders/Virginia/Arlington-County-4.html

          • The Dope of South Arlington

Registered sex offenders and people arrested for a sex crime are not one and the same, so your ‘proof’ is worthless.

          • X

@The Dope of South Arlington, and so you have access to Arlington County Police arrest records? post them, please.

          • The Dope of South Arlington

Do you have a problem with reading comprehension? I said of the sex crimes featured on ArlNow. Not a word about access to police records, statistics for the US as a whole, or serial killers.

          • X

@The Dope of South Arlington, below is your first comment (since you’re now, conveniently, expanding the scope of your comment): “Hispanics are what, 18-20% of Arlington’s population? Yet they seem to be about 90% of the sexual predators. What gives?”

Perhaps in your world, “Sexual Predators” statistics are not based on the numbers listed on the webpage I’d just sent you, but the rest of us folks do use that page to determine who dominates that list. So you’re wrong. But, of course, you’re now saying that you meant to say “sexual arrests”, when your clearly stated “sexual predators”.

          • ARLNOW Auxiliary Police Department

            Checkmate. +1

          • drax

Okay, the Dope is USUALLY parody. He’s either serious today or he’s going overboard.

          • Captain_Obvious

WHAT ? Anyone can lie with stats anytime…what an asinine comment…

          • The Dope of South Arlington

As long as you feel better about yourself because you feel like you “won” an argument on the internet and proved to the world how you, no sir, not you, aren’t a racist.

          • X

@The Dope of South Arlington, somethings are worth proving. Luckily, Arlington county has some good statistics regarding sex offenders, so that was not a tough argument to win. Now, I’ve just determined that you’re illegal. And now matter what you say, I say you’re illegal because I say so. See how “great” that works?

          • nom de guerre

I would like to know how you determined the ethnicity/nationality of each of the 76 registered sex offenders in Arlington by just reviewing the website.

          • X

@nom de guerre, that’s exactly my point. Which is why it’s wrong to my such outlandish generalizations.

          • observer

Maybe that’s because most got deported like they deserve.

          • X

@Observer, your level of education is pretty “impressive”. 🙂

          • observer

            prove I’m wrong bubba

          • X

@Observer, prove that Hispanics don’t deserve to be deported? that’s like asking me to prove that you don’t deserve to be deported, “bubba”. Your words prove my point!

          • drax

I looked it up – you’re wrong, observer.

            Prove I’m wrong.

      • Tumblebum

Actually, in the last 30 years whites make up less than 60% of known serial killers in the U.S. Any further numbers would likely hurt some feelings so do your own research.

  • CW

The hell is going on here? None of these comments make any sense.

    • CW

Whoa, comment chronology and hierarchy fail…

  • WeiQiang

I particularly enjoy the deportation comments. You realize, of course, that the rounding up of suspected illegal immigrants and undocumented aliens is billions each year in Congressional pork:

For the Fiscal Year that begins October 1, 2012 (Fiscal Year 2013), DHS and the White House requested $1.959 billion for DHS Custody Operations.

If you think that this issue is primarily about protecting our borders or protecting against terrorism, think again. All the “deport ’em & let god sort ’em out” talk shows a certain lack of grasp of the facts.

  • nom de guerre

It appears the reply link is not working on this thread.

  • roquer

The police will catch this guy, and chances are good that he’ll go off to jail for a long time. When he gets out what happens then? Does he get to stay under the Dream Act, or some other stupid executive order that Obama wrote? Or do we ship him back to where ever? Guess we’ll see. Might have to wait about 30 years to find out tho. C/A Stamos is death on perverts.

  • sunflower

Since 1976, when the U.S. Supreme Court re-allowed the death penalty, 991 people have been executed in the United States. Of those, 19 men (1.9%) had the middle name Wayne — 14 white, 3 black, 1 Native American. Most famous: serial killer John Wayne Gacy.
