Crowds lined Wilson Blvd last night to celebrate Fat Tuesday while taking in the annual Clarendon Mardi Gras parade.

Bands played, the D.C. Rollergirls skated through and kids scrambled for beads with as much enthusiasm as the adults. Representatives from local businesses and organizations also entertained the masses while riding or walking alongside the many colorful floats.

Certainly appears to be a G-rated Mardi Gras!!

  • Douglas Parker

I didn’t know about this! Oh well. Looks like it was a lot of fun!

  • Greg

Wow. I haven’t been to this is years. Last time I went the crowd was only one-deep and the sidewalks were empty in some spots. This has really grown.

  • Zimmerman

Hmmm. You know what Clarendon needs? A trolley!

    • Anne

      +1 LOL

    • G Clifford Prout

You’re right, but let’s get the Pike done first.

  • Kathy

I participated in the parade and it was a lot of fun with a very good turnout of spectators. Highly recommend for next year.

  • YTK

This was alot better than the older ones, where there were so few floats that the whole parade decided to go around the block twice

  • Swag

So who’s supposed to clean up all the trash?

    • Dyker Longs

      yo’ momma

  • Robert

Kudos to the Clarendon Alliance for organizing another successful event. Each year the parade gets better and better and, as others have mentioned, the crowds keep growing. It’s definitely a homegrown parade but that’s what makes it so fun. Glad to see Batala and Ballou High return.

“Certainly appears to be a G-rated Mardi Gras!!”

In Arlington style, bead-tossers challenged the crowd to “Show me your intellect!” But Princess Peach in the bike sidecar is a 6’8″ male. Nothing this year compared to the George Mason prom queen float a few years ago.

    Love that Abe Lincoln

    • Mary-Austin

Thought he looked familiar. Nice costume Don!

  • Son of Quackers

    So no boobies?

    • Ted Nug

      Yes, the Arlington Dems

    • AW

No, just like the real Mardi Gras parades through New Orleans neighborhoods away from the clueless tourists.

  • Jake

No boobs, no trannies, no fun.

    • Clarendon

You mean you thought that was a woman… Ha ! Jokes on you.

Glad to see it’s G-rated. It’s great for the children. Nice to see so many happy faces!
