New Apartments Now Open — “JBG Smith Properties… delivered its first new residential project in Crystal City, representing a nearly half-billion-dollar investment and continued confidence that residential demand will keep growing in the area. The side-by-side towers — named The Grace and Reva and standing 26 and 27 stories, respectively — replace a blocky 11-story office building that was demolished in 2019. Their combined 808 luxury units, costing the company some $422 million per its most recent investor package, crown the company’s 3,700-unit residential portfolio in… National Landing.” [Washington Post]

Arlingtonian Advances on Jeopardy! — “In a battle that went down to final Jeopardy!, Arlington attorney Luigi de Guzman advanced in the quarterfinals of the show’s Tournament of Champions. The show aired Thursday night. The 43-year-old attorney was the only contestant to answer final Jeopardy! correctly.” [Northern Virginia Magazine, The Sun]

Changes to Preservation Bill — “The state Senate on a 28-11 vote Feb. 28 approved Del. Hope’s bill but included amendments giving local governments the power to determine which parties in any historic-preservation battle will have standing to appeal governmental decisions to the Circuit Court. Being amended means the bill will go back to the House of Delegates for further consideration, rather than directly to the governor.” [Gazette Leader]

Anti-Hate Rally After Graffiti Incident — “Friday morning, dozens of residents gathered outside the Rock Spring Congregational United Church of Christ in the Yorktown neighborhood. Mike Cantwell, President of the Yorktown Civic Association, stood before the attendees to say ‘hate has no place here,’ and urged the crowd to repeat it together. The idea, Cantwell said, was to ‘make it clear that this kind of behavior is completely unacceptable.'” [WTOP]

Pentagon City Crash on Camera — From Dave Statter: “Another crash at Army Navy and S. Hayes Street in Pentagon City, VA. This one at a.m. today fits the pattern of many others in that it involves a vehicle making a left turn from the I-395N ramp onto Army Navy and the interaction with traffic traveling northbound on Hayes. Three people were reported injured.” [Twitter]

Possible School Break-In — From ACPD: “At approximately 7:56 a.m. on February 28, police were dispatched to the late report of a trespassing. It was determined between 1:30 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on February 25, three juvenile male suspects made entry into the closed building, rummage through the interior and subsequently exited. No items were reported stolen.” The incident happened on the same block of N. Thomas Street as the St. Thomas More Cathedral School. [ACPD]

Marymount Triumphs at Hoops Tourneys — “The Marymount University Saints men’s and women’s basketball teams each made good on their top seeds by winning Atlantic East Conference tournaments with 2-0 records, and as a result earned automatic bids to play in the NCAA Division III national tourneys. The Saints each finished 2-0 on their home Converse Family Fieldhouse court and won the competitions for the second straight time.” [Gazette Leader]
