The Arlington County Police Department has rolled out a new crime dashboard with up-to-date data on offenses and arrests.
The data hub, which went live today (Friday), includes interactive maps of offense locations, which users can sort by neighborhood, offense category, timeframe and police beat. It also delineates crime data by month and includes granular breakdowns of arrests based on offense codes and date.
The data is updated weekly on Wednesday mornings.

The Arlington County Police Department (ACPD) is committed to community policing, a philosophy and practice that seeks to involve everyone in the safety and welfare of our community. As part of this commitment, ACPD strives to build trust and confidence with those we serve through increased transparency and communications and has launched a Crime Data Hub as an additional tool for our community to stay informed about reported criminal incidents occurring in Arlington County.
The Crime Data Hub includes dashboards and maps on case offenses and overall arrest data. Using these dashboards and maps, community members can search for criminal offenses over date ranges for specific geographical areas, visualize how crime offenses have changed over time and query overall arrest data. Prior to launching the Crime Data Hub, the dashboards and maps were shown to various community groups and feedback was sought to ensure it reflected the needs of our community.
About Crime Data
The Arlington County Police Department reports crime using the Federal Bureau of Investigations’ National Incident-Based Reporting Systems (NIBRS). NIBRS data are reported as Group A Offenses and Group B/Other. Group A Offenses are separated into three categories: Crimes Against Persons, Crimes Against Property and Crimes Against Society. Additional information on what offenses are included in these categories and a definition of each offense is available through the FBI.
The Crime Data Hub is updated weekly on Wednesday mornings and is designed for informational purposes. The data contained in the Crime Data Hub is preliminary and subject to change based on follow-up criminal investigations. A comprehensive database of annual crime reported in the Commonwealth of Virginia is available on the Virginia State Police (VSP) website.
