Two boats from One Arlington Rowing Club reach medal stand in Boston

In recent competition, boats from the One Arlington Rowing club reached the medal stand at the Head of the Charles Regatta, held on the Charles River in Boston.

Rowers from One Arlington, consisting of students from Arlington’s three public high schools, showcased their skill and determination at the regatta.

At the competition, the under-17 boys four shell medaled with a fourth in a field of 30, and in the girls youth quad with a coxswain, the Arlington entry finished fifth out of 54.

Austin Cooper, Fedir Melnyk, Matthew Gaull, Thomas Totten and Lachlan Vaughn made up the under-17 boys four shell.

Members of the girls youth quad with a coxswain were Amelie Przystawik, Emory Loughry, Riley Gaul, Anna Duall and Mia Kim.

One Arlington Rowing entered boats in five additional races, sending nearly 50 rowers who attend Wakefield, Washington-Liberty and Yorktown high schools.

One Arlington Rowing is a unique club, amassing crew athletes from the three schools that face off head-to-head during the spring’s high-school season. Recently, rowers from the three teams joined to participate in a Potomac River cleanup near the site of the long-proposed Arlington boathouse.
