The Wakefield Warriors recently won both the girls and boys multi-team track-and-field indoor meets at Thomas Jefferson Community Center.
The girls were first with 104 points and the boys with 154. Both high-school teams had multiple winners of individual events, and combined for three victories in relay races.
Leading the boys was double winner Ben Chapuis in the 55-meter hurdles (9.11) and the high jump (6 feet). Liam Keish won the 500 (1:12.91), Logan Ward was first in the 1,000 (2:54.4), Noah Gunville won the 1,600 (5:00.10) and Andrew Coe was first in the 3,200 (11:10.81).
Second for the Wakefield boys were Travon Buckner in the 300, Theodore Fusarelli in the 500 and Daniel Hearing in the 1,600. Third were Buckner in the high jump, Taurian Barnes in the 300 and 55 dash and Albert Lutz in the 1,600. Fourth was Jaxon Grupenhoff in the 3,200, and John Guy was fifth in the 1,000.
The 4×400 and 4×800 relays finished first.
One of the athletes leading the Wakefield girls was Grace Armitage. She won the 300 (46.27), was second in the high jump and sixth in the shot put.
Jillian Reck won the 55 dash (7.32) and was third in the 300, Gennesee Rivera Dobbler won the 3,200 (13:13.97) and Quincy Daigle was first in the 1,000 (3:22.69).
Second for the Wakefield girls were Kyla Berthold in the 3,200 and Masiah Short in the 55 dash. Third was Kennedy McClary in the 55 dash; she also was fifth in the 300.
Fourth was Wren Gabel in the 500. She was sixth in the 300.
The 4×200 relay won in 1:58.03.
