Wakefield teams combine to win Vic Blue wrestling tournament

By combining team scores from the girls varsity and boys junior-varsity wrestling squads, the host Wakefield Warriors won the recent third annual Vic Blue Memorial Tournament.

The high-school teams amassed a 158-point total, with Colonial Forge of Stafford finishing second with 146.5. Arlington’s Washington-Liberty Generals were third with 123.

Leading the Wakefield girls was weight-class winner Fabiola Matas at 185 pounds. She had multiple pins in the competition.

Second for the Wakefield girls were Ashley Alvarez at 107, Aniya Corbin at 114, Fatima Granados at 132, Arlana Trejo at 138 and Amen Nuru at 145. Fourth was Marlin Ramirez Castillo at 185, fifth was Alyssa Perez at 165 and sixth was Abigail Macdonald at 132.

For the Wakefield junior-varsity boys wrestlers, Antonio Warlock was second at 285 and Dante Barrios Klingle third at 175.

For the Washington-Liberty girls, Makaela Trejo was second at 114 and Allison Crawford third at 132.
