Of the nine Marymount University Division III winter sports teams, the men’s basketball squad is enjoying the best season so far, with a 7-5 overall record.
The Saints are 1-0 in the Atlantic East Conference, with the squad winning its opening league game by a 67-63 score over the Immaculata University Mighty Macs.
Isaac Harris had 21 points, nine rebounds, three steals and two blocks to lead the Saints. Miles Phillips had 19 points, three assists and two steals, and Joshua Hughes added eight points.
The Marymount women’s basketball team stands 3-9, 0-1, losing its conference opener to Immaculata, 78-65. Kaylah Barr had 16 points and five rebounds in the loss, Samantha Bulik scored 14 with seven assists, and Kelly Ceroll added 10 points and five rebounds.
The Marymount men’s wrestling team placed fourth in the Jim Crytzer Invitational at Washington and Lee University. For the Saints, Tallion Elliott, Jr. won the 157-pound weight class, as did Rylan Moose at 184. Ian Morales was second at 125.
The women’s wrestling team has a 2-9 overall record, with Nicole Barahona Rios finishing fourth in a recent multi-team meet.
The women’s swimming team has a 2-1 mark, with the men 1-2. In a recent victory for the men, Alexander Hain was a double winner in the 1,000-yard freestyle and 100 backstroke. For the women in a victory, Sydney Ruck (1,000 free and 500 free), Ilana Hawkins (50 free, 100 free) and Miah Lopez (100 butterfly and 100 breaststroke) were double race-winners.
The Marymount men’s volleyball team begins its season later this month, and the track-and-field teams start their 2025 seasons Jan. 18.
