Different high-school track and field teams from Arlington had strong showings at a couple of different recent meets.
For the Washington-Liberty girls, Ella Kaplan won two events and was second in another at a competition at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center in Arlington.
Kaplan won the 55-meter hurdles in 10.09 and 500 race (1:26.54) and placed second in the high jump. She led the W-L girls to first place with 78 points.
Also for the W-L girls, Gabriela Netwall won the 55 dash (7.85) and was third in the shot put and high jump.
At a different meet, Netwall was second in the long jump, third in the triple jump and fifth in the high jump.
For the Wakefield girls, Hosanna Connor was second in the pole vault and Madeleine Wearing was fourth in that event. In relays, the Wakefield girls won the 4×200 (1:50.66), finished third in the 4×400 and fourth in the 4×800.
The Yorktown girls were third in the 4×800 relay in one of the meets. The relay included top runner Ellen Malloy.
In a boys meet, Wakefield’s Chris Gilpin won the long jump (21-6 3/4) and the triple jump (43.5) and teammate Alex Epstein was second in the pole vault.
For Washington-Liberty, Charles Gent won the pole vault (12-6), Ben Tahu was second in the high jump, Carson Owens was third in the long jump and Ian Crowley was fifth in the triple jump.
The Washington-Liberty boys won the 4×200 relay (1:35.97) and were second in the 4×400 relay.
The Yorktown boys won the 4×800 relay in 8:33.57.
