March Madness in Arlington and Falls Church: Happy hours and where to watch

The First Four games of March Madness continue tonight (Wednesday), with American University facing Mount St. Mary’s at 6:40 p.m.

Arlington and Falls Church are home to no shortage of venues to watch the game while enjoying a happy hour. Here are a couple places to find food and drink deals, watch parties and some friendly bracket competitions.

Astro Beer Hall

The Shirlington bar’s March Madness specials for each game include $10 Narragansett and Fireball combos, $15 Narragansett pitchers and $6 green tea shots. The men’s and women’s bracket competition offers prizes of $250, $150 and $100 to the top three winners, and entry is free.

Ballston Local

The Ballston sports bar plans to show every March Madness game, in addition to hosting weekly Wednesday night trivia at 7:30 p.m. Catch weekday happy hour specials from 3-6 p.m., including pints starting at $4, $7 appetizers and a $10 beer-and-pizza-slice combo deal.

Crystal City Sports Pub

A mainstay for many D.C.-area university alumni associations, the pub is showing tonight’s American University game while offering select beers for $4 until 9 p.m., as well as regular happy hour specials from 3-6:30 p.m.

Dogwood Tavern

The Falls Church restaurant and bar will show both March Madness games tonight with sound on over 20 TV screens. It offers $4 Miller Lites, $5 house liquor, $6 house wines and $8 Moscow mules during happy hour from 3-7 p.m. Staying late? The restaurant’s late night menu includes $8 waffle fry and tater tot baskets, creme brûlée cheesecake and brownie sundaes.

Don Tito

The three-level Clarendon bar is showing games tonight, in addition to offering five-can beer bucket specials between $15 and $20. The deal lasts through Friday, April 4.

First Down Sports Bar & Grill

Fresh off its 16-year anniversary, First Down is showing March Madness games on its 30-plus TV screens while hosting a “Wing Sauce Madness” competition on social media. Until 8 p.m., try some of First Down’s 50 sauces during its dine-in wing specials hour, with boneless and bone-in wings under $1 each.

Ireland’s Four Courts

The Courthouse bar is showing March Madness games in addition to hosting a men’s and women’s bracket pool competition with a 50/50 prize alongside the Penn State D.C.  alumni chapter. Entry opens Thursday morning and starts at $15. Proceeds benefit the alumni group’s scholarship fund.

JINYA Ramen Bar

On March Madness game days through Monday, April 7, guests in Ballston can order specials like $5 on all draft beers and $5 five-piece crispy chicken while watching along live.

Open Road Grill

Bracket entries are due by 12:15 p.m. tomorrow for this Northern Virginia grill’s competition, which offers a $500 Visa gift card top prize. During happy hour from 4-7 p.m., the restaurant offers $2 off small plates, including nachos, lettuce wraps and mac-and-cheese, as well as $5 16-ounce drafts and $7 glasses of wine.

Quincy Hall’s bracket competition comes with a top prize of $500, and entries must be submitted online before tipoff tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon. If you’re watching games in Ballston, the bar also offers $3 New York-style pizza slices and $2 drafts during happy hour from 4-6 p.m.

The Rosslyn restaurant celebrates 25 years of March Madness screenings this spring. Rhodeside will show March Madness on over 20 TV screens with sound on, starting at noon this Thursday and lasting until midnight Sunday each week.

The Falls Church bar is offering a $100 gift card prize to the winner of its March Madness bracket competition. Happy hour is from 3-6 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with $8 house wines, $5 rail spirits and $5 drafts at 5 p.m.

The Renegade

The Renegade is available to book for March Madness group watch parties, offering large TV screens and happy hour specials for private events. Spots are available to book now. The venue is one of many options for drinks in Clarendon, joining the likes of Mister Days, Spider Kelly’s, Hyde Social and more.

Water Park

The Crystal City park is hosting a tournament kick-off party this Friday, March 21 at Crush Pizza and Wine, with a big screen watch party inside Water Bar. Crush is offering all-day beer pitcher specials and basketball hoop games on March 21, March 29 and April 5, and fans can watch the games on Water Bar’s big screen throughout the tournament.
