With three top players back from last spring’s Centennial Conference championship women’s team, the Marymount University Saints are in a good position to have another strong season.
The Saints opened their 2025 spring campaign by winning the Shenandoah University Spring Fling in Bradenton, Fla., at Heritage Harbour Golf Club.
Marymount’s two-day, 36-hole team score was 334-334–668. The Saints’ best individual finisher was junior returner Noelle Jensen, shooting 83-79–162 to place second. Third was first-year Marymount player Eunice Chang with an 84-83–167. Fourth was another first-year Saint in Qing Lyu (81-87–168) and sixth was junior returner Kate Parsons (86-85–171).
Also for the Saints, first-year player Tinleigh Rusher shot 94-92–186 and senior Hannah Lampe 105-109–214. Graduate student and returner Peyton Kraras did not compete.
Next for longtime head golf coach Rob Ferguson’s Marymount team is the Shenandoah University Invitational at Winchester Country Club on Saturday and Sunday, March 29-30.
“We have some good players again and some really good freshman,” Ferguson told ARLnow.
The Saints will attempt to defend their Centennial Conference Championship in late April at Waynesboro Country Club in Waynesboro, Pa. A victory will earn the Saints a berth into the Division III NCAA tournament for the second straight season, this year played at the Kingsmill Resort & Spa in Williamsburg in May.
“That’s always a goal to qualify for nationals because it’s such a great experience for our players,” Ferguson said.
As a result of winning last spring’s conference title, the Saints qualified for the NCAAs for the third time in four seasons.
NOTE: Marymount’s roster is unique with six of its players from areas far away from the Arlington campus. There is one from China, another from Malaysia, two from Florida, one from Kansas and one from Pennsylvania. “Players from other areas want to come to Marymount because of our location, and we are always happy to have them on our team,” Ferguson said.
