With early-season victories each, Arlington’s three springtime boys high-school boys soccer teams are off to solid starts.
Through three games, the Washington-Liberty Generals and Yorktown Patriotst had 2-1 records while the Wakefield Warriors were 1-1-1.
For Wakefield, seniors Graysen Colglazier and Bruce Gonzales Cordova have been top goal-scorers. Colglazier netted three goals in a 4-3 victory over the Jefferson Colonials, while Gonzales Cordova tallied two in a 2-2 tie against the Lewis Lancers and one against Jefferson.
Senior Erik Vasquez Ayala assisted on three goals against Jefferson and one against Lewis along with senior Vajk Dawson. Wakefield freshman goalie Nestor Arias made some key saves against Lewis.
Other seniors for Wakefield are Andrew Soto, Ryan Goff-Glennon, Gustavo Gonzales, Elvin Yapura-Adriazola, Shem Tewolde, Emmanuel Ashley and Ricardo Perez-Justiniano.
Washington-Liberty’s victories were against the Annandale Atoms, 5-3, and Centreville Wildcats, 4-1.
The Generals also have a senior-heavy roster this fall, with 11 upperclassmen: Anthony Camacho-Sourivong, Hagan Donovan, Bryson Halberda, Mohamed Mustafa, Ayaan Ali, Diego Green, Evan Oberkirsch, Will Esparza Salazar, Nikolas Montero, Andrew Kennedy and Connor McNally.
Yorktown’s wins have been against the Robinson Rams, 1-0, and the Madison Warhawks, 2-1.
The Patriots also have a lot of seniors, as well, with 10: William Agnew, Quinn Belt, Ethan Bleicher, Nicholas Dennis, Daniel Johnson, Miles Douglas, Angel Rivera, Henry Topp, Aaron Volkwin and Holden Woods.
The Arlington rivals meet once each this spring, later during the regular season. Wakefield and Yorktown meet Thursday, April 24. Yorktown and Washington-Liberty play Monday, April 28. Wakefield and W-L clash Friday, May 2.
Wakefield and Washington-Liberty are coached by brothers: Eddie Carrasquillo for the Warriors and Jimmy Carrasquillo for the Generals.
Washington-Liberty defeated Wakefield twice last season, with older sibling Jimmy having the upper hand.
