Busy W-L athlete places in many events at track-and-field meet

No athlete was busier for the Washington-Liberty Generals than Camille Walker during the recent Gainesville Cardinal Classic track-and-field meet.

The senior’s top finish in the multiple-team meet at Gainesville High School was a 17th in the girls discus. She also placed 18th in the triple jump, 19th in the 100 hurdles, 22nd in the shot put and 43rd in the 100 dash.

Also busy for the W-L girls were Gabriela Netwall, Morgan Brown and Ella Kaplan.

Netwall won the 400 in 56.15 seconds, was fifth in the long jump and tied for ninth in the high jump. Brown was fourth in the varsity 200, 14th in the 100 and 23rd in the long jump.

Kaplan was fourth in the 300 hurdles, seventh in the 100 hurdles and tied for ninth in the high jump.

Washington-Liberty’s Eve Jungman was third in the shot, Therese Johansson fifth in the 800 championship finals, Alba Edsall seventh in the varsity 800, Emily Buckwalter 11th in the 1,600 and Elizabeth Rupert 13th in the shot. The girls 4×100 relay was third.

Leading the Washington-Liberty boys was Emmett Engelhardt with a second in the championship 800.

Nico Docena was busy for the Generals in the boys meet. He was fourth in the 110 hurdles, eighth in the 300 hurdles and triple jump, and 23rd in the long jump.

Del Conyers was busy as well. He was ninth in the triple jump and 300 hurdles and 12th in the 110 hurdles. Andrew Klinger was 15th in the varsity 800 and 22nd in the 1,600.

Also for the W-L boys, Lando Reed was 10th in the 100, Michael Barber and Arjun Rao tied for 12th in the high jump, Morgan Fritz was 15th in the 1,600 with Jackson Wernicke 20th in the race, and Nick West 22nd in the 500.

Rao also was 19th in the triple jump, and the 4×100 relay placed eighth.
