Arlington basketball players recognized by popular N.Va. sports website

The website Novahoops.com recently named a number of high-school basketball players from Arlington to its girls and boys all-Northern Virginia freshman and sophomore teams for the 2024-25 season.

On the girls sophomore team was Arlington’s Sabrina Anderson, a guard for the Potomac School private squad, who already has scored 1,000 career points. Bishop O’Connell’s Mia Morrill was chosen a reserve on the sophomore team.

Five players from Arlington’s public-school teams received honorable-mention recognition on the girls sophomore team. They were Kathryn Wagener of Washington-Liberty; Ainsley Lomas, Olivia Shiplett and Elena Debevec of Yorktown; and Lilah Denton at Wakefield.

Anna Jungman (Washington-Liberty), Lucy Strawn (Wakefield) and Molly Cooper (Yorktown) each received honorable-mention honors on the girls freshman team.

O’Connell’s Makel Minor was a reserve on the boys sophomore team.

Yorktown’s James Davis earned honorable-mention status on the sophomore team, and Washington-Liberty’s Jack Cameron and Luke Jones received honorable-mention honors on the freshman team.

NOTE: A number of the Arlington girls recognized by Novahoops.com on the sophomore and freshman teams played for the Arlington-based Virginia Hurricanes girls AAU program.
