Independence Day is next Friday, bringing views of D.C’s annual fireworks show as well as other local celebrations in Arlington.
The nearly 18-minute pyrotechnic production on the National Mall is expected to begin at 9:09 p.m, weather permitting. Many parks and trails in Arlington provide popular viewing spots each year.

Several Arlington neighborhoods intend to host annual July 4 parades and gatherings.
The Military Women’s Memorial at Arlington National Cemetery is also selling tickets for a private evening celebration.
A free, celebratory ice cream social is scheduled from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. in Falls Church’s Cherry Hill Farmhouse at 312 Park Avenue. It will include tie-dye T-shirts, yard games and historical guided tours of the farmhouse.
For dining, acclaimed Falls Church restaurant Ellie Bird plans to launch its new fried chicken concept, Side Chick, out of its kitchen at 125 Founders Avenue.
Fried chicken and Southern comfort foods with Asian American-inspired flavors, like kimchi potato salad, will be available for pickup or delivery, starting July 4.
Finally, during the day, Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken in Shirlington plans to offer “4th of July” donuts topped with blueberries and red chocolate icing, which are available to preorder.
