An Arlington Public Schools employee has been arrested for alleged inappropriate contact with a female student.
Rene Alfredo Escobar Jr., a 31-year-old instructional assistant assigned to Washington-Liberty High School, faces charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and committing a second stalking offense within five years.
Police said the inappropriate contact took place both online and in person.
“This remains an active criminal investigation and detectives believe there could be additional victims,” the Arlington County Police Department announced in a press release today (Wednesday). “The suspect has employment history interacting with juveniles at schools and a community center in Arlington County.”

The Arlington County Police Department’s Special Victims Unit has arrested and charged an Arlington Public Schools employee and is seeking possible additional victims.
On May 28, police initiated a criminal investigation after receiving information that an Instructional Assistant assigned to Washington-Liberty High School had inappropriate contact, both online and in person, with a juvenile female student. As a result of the investigation, Rene Alfredo Escobar Jr., 31, of Arlington, VA was arrested on July 1 and charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor and Stalking: 2nd Offense Within 5 Years.
Additional information regarding the investigation is restricted from release in accordance with Virginia Code § 19.2-11.2.
This remains an active criminal investigation and detectives believe there could be additional victims. The suspect has employment history interacting with juveniles at schools and a community center in Arlington County.
