A professional rugby player for local team Old Glory DC has been charged with rape in Arlington.
[Redacted] was arrested on Friday after an alleged incident at a Clarendon area residence last month. The victim alleged that [redacted], through intimidation and through force, sexually assaulted her while she was attending a housewarming party for her sister’s friend, who works for the team.
The victim also said in a criminal complaint that [redacted] choked and slapped her.
[Redacted] faces felony counts of rape by force or threat, strangulation, forcible sodomy and object sexual penetration, according to court records. He has also been charged with misdemeanor sexual battery and assault and battery.
The 26-year-old Maryland native was scheduled to appear for a bond hearing this morning (Tuesday), according to online records. Court documents list [redacted] residence as an apartment building near Shirlington.
An Arlington County police spokesperson declined to provide additional information about the case.
“This remains an active criminal investigation and to ensure the integrity of the investigation and the privacy of the victim in accordance with Virginia Code § 19.2-11.2, there are no additional details to provide at this time,” ACPD’s Kiyah Daniell told ARLnow. “The suspect remains held in the Arlington County Detention Facility.”
