Clarendon Day returns this month with over 150 vendors and booths

Clarendon’s annual street festival returns in less than two weeks, promising a lively day of music, local vendors and food.

Over 150 local artisans, businesses, nonprofits and restaurants are expected to participate in this year’s Clarendon Day on Saturday, Sept. 27. The event will run from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. in the blocks surrounding the Clarendon Metro station.

Featured exhibits and vendors range from candlemakers to local pet stores and fitness centers, as well as several nonprofits, political organizations and churches.

This year’s lineup of food vendors includes Clarendon mainstays like Tiger Dumplings, Kabob Bazaar, Smokecraft Modern Barbecue and Spice Kraft Indian Bistro, as well as the roving Rossana coffee truck.

At least one future Clarendon business, Boe, is expected to make a vendor appearance. The country-themed, mechanical bull-bearing bar is preparing to open at 2854 Wilson Blvd, next to the new Nettie’s Tavern.

Live music kicks off at 11 a.m. with D.C. folk singer/songwriter Justin Trawick, followed by funk rock group Pebble to Pearl and cover band Collective.

As usual, the event will include a kid’s zone with inflatables, glitter tattoos and balloon animals — and the first 500 kids to visit the Clarendon Alliance booth will receive a free prize.

Free parking near the festival will be available from 10 a.m.-9 p.m. in George Mason University’s Van Metre Garage at 3351 Fairfax Drive.
