‘Hallow-E-Waste’ electronics collection event happening in Falls Church tomorrow

A Falls Church sorority chapter is hosting a Halloween-themed collection event for old electronics tomorrow (Saturday).

The city’s Chi Beta Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha has planned the “Hallow-E-Waste” event, which will feature daytime trick-or-treating for kids in addition to waste collection.

From 10 a.m. to noon at Big Chimneys Park (210 Gibson Street), the sorority will accept the following items.

  • Televisions and monitors
  • Computers (laptops and desktops)
  • Batteries
  • Handheld devices (smartphones, cell phones, tablets, e-readers)
  • Peripherals (keyboards, mice, cables, cords, chargers)

The collection event cannot accept smoke detectors, medication, household appliances or hazardous materials.

“Properly recycling electronic waste isn’t just about clearing out old devices, but it’s about protecting our environment, conserving valuable resources, and ensuring safer, cleaner communities,” Chapter President Lynn Perry said in a press release. “Events like this empower us all to take responsibility for the technology we use and the impact it leaves behind.”
